Fishing has been the driving passion in Scott Barrus' life since he could walk. Spending the summers at his cabin on the upper Weber River in Utah, he spent every minute possible on the water. He first picked up the fly rod at the age of twelve and learned how to tie flies that same year. His first job at 14, was making lead jigs, and drift boat anchors for his cousin's company after school. He considers his home waters the Green River, Provo River, and Weber River and is very knowledgeable about all three.
Scott spent the 1998 season on the Green River as a vehicle shuttle driver for the guides. After fishing almost everyday that summer, and absorbing all of the guide knowledge that he could, he changed career paths and began his guiding career the following season. He has guided in Wyoming, and Colorado, but prefers guiding the Green River out of a drift boat. Scott is very patient, and enjoys teaching the dry fly approach to fishing.
Scott is the owner of Spinner Fall Guide Service. He purchased the company from the Howard family in 2002. When he's not at work, you might find him hiking with his family, snowboarding, steelheading, traveling, or surfing.
