SHAUN OLSON

Growing up in Southern Oregon, fishing was an every day part of life for Shaun. He first picked up the fly rod at the age of ten. Catching his first steel head on the Rouge River that same year he realized that fly-fishing would be a life long passion. Shaun honed his skills not only on the many lakes and rivers of the area, but also on summer trips to his family’s farm in Northern Idaho.

His first experience on the Green was in 2004, with a fellow guide. After spending a few days in the area fishing and exploring he decided that this was a river that he needed to spend more time fishing. Shaun made the move to Dutch John, Utah in the summer of 2006 where his passion for guiding from a drift boat began to develop.

Shaun spends his off-season pursuing his other passion, teaching snowboarding at Mammoth Mountain in California. When he’s not fishing or snowboarding he spends his time surfing, traveling and spending time with family and friends.

"Being relatively new to fly fishing, my son & I had the pleasure of being set up with Shaun for our first guided trip. Shaun's patient explanations, and casting lessons boosted our "skills" light years ahead of our experience. Within an hour we had both doubled our casting distance, & landed our first brown trout on a dry fly! Thanks Shaun for the best fishing day of our lives, see you next May!!!"
Sincerely, Justin & Tyler Mathis - Denver, Colorado
