Dudley grew up on the North West shores of Lake Michigan, in a small historic fishing village called Leland. His first love in life was fishing. Growing up fishing daily, in an area with a vast variety of game fish to chase around has made him the angler and fly-fishing guide he is today.
In the spring and fall, he chased steel head, salmon, lake run browns and lake trout. Summers were filled with small mouth, brook trout, pike and the pursuit of carp on the many lakes around his home. Fishing has always been a way of life for him.
Dudley’s first job was working for Carlson’s Smoke House in Fish Town, a small commercial fishery in Leland. At Carlson's he found out at a young age what hard work is all about.
A few times a year, he would have the opportunity to travel to his aunt’s home in Southern Florida to fish for several salt water species.
In 1990, he moved to Utah to attend college at The University of Utah. Fly-Fishing as a hobby, soon lead to professional guiding in the mid 1990's.
The dream has come true. Professional guiding year round and co/ownership of Spinner Fall Guides. Many of his other passions range from back country skiing in the Wasatch, to biking in Southern Utah with his family and friends.
Guiding is a passion for him. There is great joy in seeing his clients capabilities grow. Whether it is their first time on the river, or simply another fly-fishing reunion. Teaching and having fun is by far the most important aspect of guiding to him.
“My wife, Jan and I have had the opportunity to fly fish some of the best fisheries in the world. Our experience with Dudley Campbell of Spinner Fall is one of the most memorable. The scenery, the guiding and the fishing created an experience that was remarkable. As a result, our Green River fishing adventure has become an annual event!” Jack & Jan Massimino Park City, Utah
